Danforth Scholars Program - Washington University in St. Louis - Deadline Jan. 2, 2019

• Submit an application for admission to the Class of 2023.
• Log in to your WashU Pathway account to submit the separate application for the Danforth Scholars Program.
• Write a brief answer (250 words) to the following question:
  The Danforth Scholars program is looking for students with a strong commitment to community, and demonstrated initiative in leadership and service. Please share an example of your personal experience as a leader that would clarify why you would be a good fit for this community of scholars.
• Write a short essay (250-500 words) on the following topic:
  What matters to you?
• Submit an additional (third) letter of recommendation from a member of your community who knows you well. If you submit an "other" letter of recommendation through the Common Application or Coalition Application, that letter may be used.

The American Legion High School Oratorical Contest - Deadline Jan. 4, 2019

The Oratorical Contest presents participants with an academic speaking challenge that teaches important leadership qualities, the history of our nation's laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. The scholarship winner will receive a $2000.00 scholarship and compete at the National level.

GE-REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Deadline January 4, 2019

Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.

Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program and receive ongoing leadership-development support.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

• demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
• demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
• be citizens of the United States of America;
• be current high school seniors attending high school in the United States (students living on U.S. Armed Forces base and homeschooled students are also eligible); and
• plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.

In addition, semifinalists must be nominated by an eligible community leader, such as a high school principal, elected official or executive director of a nonprofit organization, and must provide documentation to certify academic performance and financial need. Finalists will be interviewed via Skype or telephone by a member of the selection committee. 

Cutler-Bell Prize in High School Computing - Deadline Jan. 5, 2019

 The program is designed to recognize talented high school students intending to continue their higher education in the areas of computer science or technology. The program seeks to promote and encourage the field of computer science, as well as to empower young and aspiring learners to pursue computing challenges outside of the traditional classroom environment.Up to four winners will be selected annually and each will be awarded a $10,000 prize which will be administered through the financial aid department at the university the student will attend.  Eligible applicants for the award will include graduating high school seniors residing and attending school in the US. Challenges for the award will focus on developing an artifact that engages modern computing technology and computer science. Judges will look for submissions that demonstrate ingenuity, complexity, relevancy, originality, and a desire to further computer science as a discipline.

Thea Foundation Scholarship Competitions 

Thea annually awards $80,000 across six scholarship categories to thirty graduating seniors from all corners of the state. In eleven years, Thea has distributed $2.5 million in scholarships to 225 students gifted in the arts. No GPA requirement.  Scholarships will be awarded to the students institutions of choice, regardless of planned major. The student need not be majoring in an arts-related field to receive and utilize the scholarship. Violation of the declaration of student work as authentic will result in forfeiture of the scholarship application.

Arkansas Association of Federal Coordinators Scholarship - Deadline Jan. 10, 2019

The Arkansas Association of Federal Coordinators (AAFC) is offering the AAFC Scholarship to high school seniors to supplement college costs beginning their freshman year. This scholarship award is $1,000 for the first academic year and will be awarded to full-time students who enroll in an Arkansas college or university, including junior colleges, community and vocational or technical colleges, and plan to major in education.

Basic eligibility requirements include:

1.  Remain in school for eight (8) consecutive semesters or until graduation requirements have been met

2.  Minimum grade point average of 3.0 or a 4.0 grading scale

3.  Good citizenship record. No suspensions or expulsions

4.  Participation in a service or academic organization or extracurricular activity 

5.  Plan to work in the field of education

Asian and Pacific Islanders American Scholarship Fund - Deadline Jan. 10, 2019

 Since 2003, APIASF has distributed more than $60 million in scholarships to deserving AAPI students. APIASF manages two scholarship programs: APIASF's general scholarship and the Gates Millennium Scholars/Asian Pacific Islander Americans funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Minimum 2.7 GPA

SMU - Hunt Leadership Scholars Program- To be considered, students must submit this completed online application, including the Hunt Essay and YouTube statement, by January 15th  of the senior year. 

 Eligibility:

• Extraordinary leadership in high school 
• Rank in the top 25% of graduating class
• Composite SAT 1290+  or ACT 29+
• Completion of strong college prep curriculum featuring elements such as AP courses and honors classes.

American Indian College Fund

The American Indian College Fund was established in 1989 to provide scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native students attending tribal colleges, and to fund and create awareness about the community-based accredited tribal colleges and universities that offer students access to knowledge and skills alongside Native culture, language, and values. The American Indian College Fund also provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending any other accredited public and non-profit private college all across the United States.

Applications are accepted from January 1 to May 31 each year.

Coolidge Scholars Program - Deadline Jan. 23, 2019 FOR JUNIORS

This is among the most generous scholarships in America: it is a full-ride scholarship that covers a student's tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study and leadership training to ANY accredited university in America.  This is open to students in the 11th grade.

Missouri State Inclusive Excellence Leadership Scholarship - Deadline Jan. 30, 2019

Be admissible to the University by December 1 and have demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to becoming a leader in an inclusive society.

Recipients of this scholarship will be chosen by the Inclusive Excellence Scholarship Selection Committee. The goal of the committee will be to select a cohort of students each year who have a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences and who seek the opportunity to contribute to the University’s goal of creating a climate of inclusive excellence. Students will be selected based on their academic record, their combination of school, community, and family involvement and activities, and their demonstrated commitment to becoming a leader in an inclusive society.

The Cherokee Nation Foundation offers three differently funded scholarships: privately funded, tribal and institutionally based. There are numerous scholarships available.

Air Force ROTC Scholarship - Deadline Jan. 31, 2018

The AFROTC program provides college-bound high school students an excellent opportunity for scholarships, leadership training, and a career in tomorrow’s Air Force.  If selected for an AFROTC scholarship, the student will receive at least $14,000 annually (tuition, fees, book allowance, and **stipend -- payout increases as student progresses through program**) to attend one of over 1000 universities throughout the country. This scholarship comes with a “freshman walk” policy that allows the student to try the AFROTC program without any commitment during their freshman year… even though they are receiving the full scholarship benefits.  Yes, if at the end of their freshman year the student decides the Air Force is not ideal or present within their future, they are free to leave the program and are NOT required to repay any of the scholarship monies received during their freshman year.
