Coca-Cola Grant - Deadline April 1st 

Coca-­Cola Grants in the amount of $1000 each will be awarded to one Northside High School senior and one Southside High School senior annually. These grants are nonrenewable. The selection committee will use the following criteria when selecting the recipient of the Coca-­Cola Grant:

●      Must have senior standing

●      2.5 minimum GPA

●      Minimum of 19 on ACT

●      Personal and educational achievement

●      Evidence of good citizenship

●      Volunteerism at school and in the community

●      Demonstrated leadership activities and potential

 

C.B. Garrison Scholarship - Deadline April 1, 2019

Celebration of Life Scholarship - Deadline April 1, 2019

Celebration of Life is awarded to an individual in the state of Arkansas whose life has been affected by cancer. This award will be given to an individual who has been impacted by cancer but continues to celebrate every moment of life and live it to the fullest. This person may have had cancer themselves or had a family member or friend with cancer.

 

Arkansas Tech-Ozark-HIGH SCHOOL TO HIGH WAGE SCHOLARSHIP-Deadline April 1, 2019

Must be a first time entering freshman and recent high school graduate. Students must have a minimum cumulative High School GPA of 3.0. Scholarships will be awarded based on GPA, test scores and letters of recommendation. Applications are to be submitted to the Arkansas Tech-Ozark Office of Financial Aid. Deadline to apply is April 1st. Awarded for Fall semester. 

 

Arkansas School Plant Management Association Scholarship Program - Deadline: April 1, 2018

Every year the Arkansas School Plant Management Association awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors across the state. The selection is based on academic excellence, leadership in school activities, work experiences and community service. The completed application must be signed by the high school principal or an appropriate school official and returned no later than April 1, 2019, to the AAEA c/o ASPMA Scholarship, 219 South Victory, Little Rock, AR 72201. A panel of ASPMA board members will judge the applicants and select 14 winners. The ASPMA will send a $1,000 check to the scholarship winners.

 

R. Preston Woodruff, Jr. Scholarship-Deadline April 1, 2019

The Arkansas Student Loan Authority provides several $1000 scholarships each year to incoming and current college students in Arkansas. Each year, one of the scholarships drawn will be renewable for up to 4 years.  To enter the scholarship online, visit: Scholarship Entry Form.

 

Jack E. and Mollie H. Grober Scholarship  - Deadline April 1

GRADUATING SENIORS OF NORTHSIDE AND SOUTHSIDE HIGH IN FORT SMITH
With the application, students must submit the following items:

  • A high school transcript
  • One letter of recommendation from an unrelated (not a family member) source that addresses the scholarship criteria
  • A one-half to one-page statement describing how you meet the scholarship criteria and how you will use the education

This is a $2000 scholarship. Academic requirements are a minimum 3.5 GPA and 24 ACT. Applicants must have completed at least two advanced placement classes.

 

2019 Hispanic Women's Organization in Arkansas Scholarship - Deadline April 8, 2019

Hispanic traditional or non-traditional students who have graduated or will be graduating from an Arkansas high school; whom will be attending or have been accepted to attend a technical training institute, a 2 year or 4 year college are eligible to apply. The student must be able to attend the HWOA Cinco de Mayo Festival on May 4th, 2019 at the Jones Center in Springdale.

 

PTA's Lela Gooden Memorial Scholarship - Deadline April 12, 2019

This scholarship is presented to a graduating senior of Northside High School and Southside High School who plans to pursue a career in the field of education.

Buster Bynum Education Scholarship - Deadline April 15, 2019

 Named in honor of R. A. “Buster” Bynum, retired Director of the Virginia Department of Education’s pupil transportation office and former SESPTC treasurer, this one-time $2,500 education scholarship is made available to one deserving public school student in each of the fourteen-member southeastern states.  

  • The parent/guardian listed on application had a Gross Taxable Family Income equal to or less than $80,000 for each of the “Past Three Tax Years.”  (For the purpose of this scholarship award, the “Past Three Tax Years” is defined as the 2015, 2016 and 2017 tax years.)
  • The parent/guardian listed on application has been an active employee in public school transportation during the “Past Three Years.”  This includes school bus drivers, aides, monitors, mechanics, parts clerks, foremen, managers, trainers, supervisors, directors, and inspectors that work in public education.  (For the purpose of this scholarship award, the “Past Three Years” work history requirement is defined as the period since January 1, 2015.)
  • The student applicant has at least a 3.0 (B) scholastic average, will graduate from a public high school, and will attend a post-secondary educational institution starting in 2018.

 

Arkansas Public Health Association (APHA) Scholarship - Deadline April 15, 2019

The APHA Student Scholarship in the amount of $1000 is given annually at the APHA conference to a student selected from a pool of applicants to provide support for their attainment of a public health degree.

Criteria:

  1. Currently enrolled in the field of public health at an Arkansas school
  2. High school senior, undergraduate or graduate student
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing
  4. Required to sit on APHA board as a student representative
  5. Not a previous scholarship recipient

 

USMA/Blake Family Metric Scholarship Award - Deadline April 15, 2019

Win a $2,500.00 scholarship to be applied to tuition payments for a two or four-year undergraduate degree. 

Eligibility: All US high school seniors are eligible to apply for the USMA/Blake Family Metric Scholarship Award.

How to Apply: Read the flyer, fill in the application, and submit electronically (preferred) or by USPS mail to USMA.

Sponsor information: All judging and final decisions of scholarships are the sole responsibility of the US Metric Association. Funding for this award is being provided by the Blake Family, in an effort to help increase metric awareness and usage in the USA.

 

Gloria Barron Prize - Deadline April 15, 2019

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

Be between the age of 8-18

Permanent residents of and currently residing in the US or Candada

Currently working on an inspiring service project or have done so within the past 12 months

 

2016 Ernest Whitelaw-Don Kinney Scholarship  - Deadline April 16, 2018

Eligibility:

Argenta Reading Series High School Writing Contest - Deadline April 16, 2018

Winner will receive $1,000, and three other finalists will receive $500 each.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entrants must meet all of the following criteria:

Must be a student in grade 10-12 at an Arkansas high school or have earned a GED within 12 months of the contest entry deadline.

Must attend an accredited Arkansas college or university after graduation.

If chosen as a finalist, entrants must be able to read the piece in front of a live audience at Argenta Reading Series in North Little Rock on May 5, 2018.

Must meet submission requirements listed below.

 

Ronnie Bateman Memorial Scholarship - Deadline April 13, 2017

Coach Ronnie Bateman was a coach in the Fort Smith Public School system for 44 years, serving 40 of those years here at Southside High School. In his memory, the Bateman family has set up a scholarship fund for a Southside senior athlete. The scholarship has been awarded since 2004 and has already assisted 20 Southside graduates with their college education. This year, a one time $1000 scholarship will be presented to the senior athlete who best meets the criteria of the scholarship. The deadline to turn in the application is Friday, April 13.

WATA Tennis Scholarships - Deadline April 23, 2018

The Lou Barry Memorial Players Award is given to a high school senior who intends to play or is being recruited for college tennis or a current college player. First consideration is given to WATA members who have been active in area and/or state junior and high school tennis and WATA programs.  The Volunteers Award is open to the same group but does not have a future playing requirement. This scholarship is weighted more toward community service and volunteerism. Volunteering for Tennis programs is a plus. The WATA scholarships will be awared to the applicants who best meet the following criteria: 

1.Personal, scholastic and tennis achievement

2.Volunteerism in tennis, especially WATA programs

3. Sportsmanship, citizenship and character

4. Community and school involvement

$250.00 scholarship to be awarded to a graduating high school senior to put towards their textbook rentals at Textbook Brokers - Russellville for the upcoming semester.  

Must be attending one of the following colleges starting in August:

  • Arkansas Tech University

  • Arkansas Tech University - Ozark Campus

Must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5

 

FIDM National Scholarship Competition High School Seniors - Deadline April 30, 2018

This scholarship for new students offers a full one-year scholarship to one student in each of the following seven categories: Fashion Executive of Tomorrow (Merchandise Marketing), Interior Designer of Tomorrow, Graphic Designer of Tomorrow, Fashion Designer of Tomorrow, Visual Designer of Tomorrow, Digital Media Artist of Tomorrow, and Trend Spotter of Tomorrow (Merchandise Product Development).

 

Defensive Driving Scholarship - Deadline April 30, 2018

Eligibility

  • Open to high school seniors or college students who are legal residents of the United States
  • Scholarship payable to the winner who should be living in the United States
  • Student must enroll in semester beginning no later than Spring 2017
  • Winner is not based on financial need
  • Relatives of DefensiveDriving.com staff may not enter
