Thea Foundation Scholarship Competitions

Thea annually awards $80,000 across six scholarship categories to thirty graduating seniors from all corners of the state. In eleven years, Thea has distributed $2.5 million in scholarships to 225 students gifted in the arts. No GPA requirement. Scholarships will be awarded to the students institutions of choice, regardless of planned major. The student need not be majoring in an arts-related field to receive and utilize the scholarship. Violation of the declaration of student work as authentic will result in forfeiture of the scholarship application.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Grant - Deadline Feb. 1, 2019

No one succeeds in college alone. That’s why the Jackie Robinson Foundation offers promising minority students a generous four-year grant to assist with college costs as well as a support network of fellow scholars, alumni, and professional mentors to help them excel in college and beyond.

License2HOWL Scholarship at Arkansas State - Deadline Feb. 1, 2019

AMOUNT AND TERM OF AWARD:
$5,000 per academic year ($2,500 per semester) provided income to the fund is sufficient. A minimum of five awards will be presented annually.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIP:

Candidate must be a full-time student at ASU-Jonesboro.
Candidate must be a resident of the state of Arkansas.
Entering freshmen must have a minimum ACT of 23 and high school GPA of 3.5.
A separate scholarship application is required and must be submitted by December 2, 2016.
Selection based on demonstrated leadership qualities in high school.
Special consideration given to those students who are living on campus.
Students who are awarded the A-State Scholar scholarship will not be considered.
Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered.

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Scholarships-Application Deadline Feb. 1, 2019

The SCAD Challenge competition series gives you the opportunity to showcase your talents. Entries must demonstrate creativity, innovation and a strong understanding of aesthetics. Let your design speak to your skill level and ability to handle university-level design assignments.

Challenges are open to current juniors and seniors in high school as of the 2016-17 academic year. A panel of SCAD faculty will review and evaluate your submitted entry, and three winners will be selected from each category.

Oklahoma State University Future Freshman Scholarships - Deadline Feb. 1, 2019

priority scholarship deadline for students entering OSU for the Fall semester. To be considered for all scholarships at OSU you must apply for admission prior to February 1. Applications received after this date may not be considered for all scholarship programs and will be considered only if funds remain available. Scholarship selection criteria vary, but can include academic performance, standardized test scores, class rank, and a student’s essay responses on the application for admission. Academic criteria are based on the cumulative unweighted GPA (4.0 scale). These criteria are intended to provide parameters from which scholarship committees make award selections.

Arkansas State Arkansas Broadcasters Association Scholarship - Deadline Feb. 1, 2019

Each year the Arkansas Broadcasters Association awards its Ted Rand Memorial Broadcasting Scholarship to a selected Arkansas high school senior who plans to major any broadcast emphasis at Arkansas State University. The scholarship covers tuition expenses for the fall semester and is renewable to cover tuition expenses the following spring semester.

Donaghey Scholars Program at UALR - Priority application deadline is February 1. Applications are accepted through March 1. (Up to $90,000 financial aid package)

The Donaghey Scholars Program is an honors program that is based upon a comprehensive interdisciplinary core curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking and active learning.

We the Students Essay Contest - Deadline February 14th, 2019

This year we are asking you to dig deep and make your scholarship essay personal. A citizen comes in many shapes and sizes. Some serve their community by voting and participating in political events. Others serve through entrepreneurship or philanthropy. We want to know what you think makes a good citizen in your community. We encourage you to bring emotion, creativity, specific examples (including current events), and well-researched facts into what you write. A good essay will demonstrate how citizenship is not an abstract idea, but is, in fact, action inspired by constitutional principles. We can’t wait to see what citizenship looks like in your community! Winner receives a $5000 scholarship. Ages 14-18 eligible to apply.

University of Arkansas Bumpers College Scholarships - Deadline Feb. 15, 2019

Scholarships for students seeking rewarding careers involving food, family, or the environment are made possible by generous gifts from many firms and individuals. We greatly appreciate the support of our benefactors. The Bumpers College was able to award more than $760,000 to students last year.

The criteria for these scholarships include academics, financial need, interests, organizational involvement, etc. Because most Bumpers College scholarships are one-year awards, all current and prospective Bumpers College undergraduate students are encouraged to apply each year.

WACE National CO-OP Scholarship Program - Deadline Feb. 15, 2019

Apply and be accepted for the 2019-2020 academic year at one of the WACE Partner Institutions: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

University of Arkansas Art Scholarship - Deadline Feb. 15, 2019

The School of Art offers both need-based and merit-based scholarships, both require an application through SlideRoom. The requirements of the application include:

Submission of a 5-image portfolio or writing sample
Summary of each piece submitted along with information you would like considered
List of any college-level art courses have taken

Students that submit an application will be automatically considered for both need-based and merit-based scholarships.

Live Mas Scholarship - Deadline February 21, 2019

That’s right! The Live Más Scholarship is not based on your grades or how well you play sports. No essays, no test scores, no right or wrong answers. We’re looking for the next generation of innovators, creators and dreamers who want to make a difference in the world.

In 2019, the Taco Bell Foundation will award $4 million in Live Más Scholarships. $1 million will be awarded through our new applicant program, $2.25 million through our renewal program for previous recipients, and $750,000 through our program for Taco Bell restaurant employees.

Governor's Commission on People wih Disabilities Scholarship - Deadline. Feb. 28, 2019

This scholarship is a one-time $800 award for Arkansans with disabilities who are seeking higher education and/or vocational training. If you have received a scholarship from the Governor’s Commission in the past, please do not re-apply since you can no longer receive the scholarship more than once. Also you must be accepted into a 2 or 4 year college, university, or vocational training program in Arkansas to be awarded the scholarship.

The Argenta Reading Series High School Writing Contest- Deadline February 28, 2019 Grades 10-12

Winner will receive $1,000, and three other finalists will receive $500 each.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entrants must meet all of the following criteria:

Must be a student in grade 10-12 at an Arkansas high school or have earned a GED within 12 months of the contest entry deadline.
Must attend an accredited Arkansas college or university after graduation.
If chosen as a finalist, entrants must be able to read the piece in front of a live audience at Argenta Reading Series in North Little Rock on March 30, 2019.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

To enter, email one piece of original, unpublished prose writing—fiction or creative nonfiction—to guy@argentareadingseries.com with the subject line: ARS Writing Contest 2019. Academic work will not be considered unless it has a creative bent. Works should be between 1,000-3,000 words in length. Send file as an attached PDF, not a Google Document.

Louie Family Foundation Scholarship - Deadline Feb. 28, 2019

The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation (the “Foundation”) anticipates awarding approximately $100,000 in scholarships in 2019. The Foundation intends to set the number of actual scholarships and the amount of an individual scholarship based on a consideration of certain factors, including without limitation, the financial resources and the qualifications of the scholarship recipients.

Special consideration will be noted for applicants: • who have parents that are United States veterans or are currently in the U.S. military; • with a demonstrated financial need; • with parents who did not attend college; or • with a documented significant disability.

To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant is required to:

Be a freshman in the 2019-2020 academic year and anticipate enrolling at a U.S. accredited college/university in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Have a cumulative, un-weighted grade point average between 3.7 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Students not on a 4.0 grading scale must convert their GPA to a 4.0 scale before submitting an application to the Foundation.
Have a minimum SAT score of 1300 (out of 1600) or a minimum ACT score of 28. However, if you did not take the SAT or the ACT because the school you will be attending in the fall of 2019 does not require such test scores, please so indicate in the application form. The Foundation will verify this with the school prior to any award.
Have at least two reference letters, one of which must be from a current or former teacher in an academic subject.
Submit an essay as further described in this application.
Have applied to a U.S. college/university, either full-time or substantial part-time, and plan to enroll in a minimum of two terms for the school year (verified by submitting a copy of the acceptance letter from the college or university as soon such acceptance letter is available).
Submit to interviews in person or by phone/Skype, if requested.

Have graduated or will graduate from high school (or have earned or will earn a high school equivalency diploma) by the end of the 2018-19 academic year;
Graduated or will graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale;
Are not and have not previously been enrolled in a four-year institution or bachelor program and have not earned more than 21 credits in a community college (not counting credits earned in a pre-college or dual enrollment program in high school);
Intend to enroll full-time in an associate or bachelor’s degree program at a Partner College no later than the Spring term of 2019-20 academic year;
Are eligible for in-state tuition at the Partner College you want to attend (not applicable if it is a private Partner College);
Have current DACA or TPS or certify that you meet the DACA immigration eligibility criteria set forth below;
Arrived in the United States before reaching your 16th birthday; and
Have significant unmet financial need.
