How to Apply: Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question:
When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful?  What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

There is no application packet for this award. Please do not include your resume at this time.

Be sure to include your full name as well as the name of the school you are attending this year and your plans for next year.

 

United States Senate Youth Program-Deadline October 5, 2019

The annual program will be held in Washington, D.C., from March 2 – 9, 2020. Two student leaders from each state, the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Education Activity will spend a week in Washington experiencing their national government in action. Student delegates will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members, officials from the Departments of State and Defense and directors of other federal agencies, as well as participate in a meeting with a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. All transportation, hotel and meal expenses will be provided by The Hearst Foundations. In addition, each delegate will also be awarded a $10,000 College Scholarship for undergraduate studies, with encouragement to pursue coursework in history and political science.

YoungArts identifies and nurtures emerging artists ages 15-18 (or in grades 10-12) in the visual, literary, design and performing arts.  Winners in cinematic arts, dance, design, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing are provided once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, significant access to scholarships and national recognition.  YoungArts ensures the nation’s most outstanding young artists are encouraged – at critical junctures in their lives – to pursue careers in the arts.

2017 National Rice Month  Scholarship Contest - Deadline October 31, 2019

Scholarship contest entrants are encouraged to use video and photography to tell the story of U.S. grown rice. Creative students can also use PowerPoint, Prezi or any visual presentation tool, so long as the total run time of the piece does not exceed three minutes.

High school graduating students from rice-growing states — Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Texas — are eligible for the three scholarship prizes, sponsored by Dow AgroSciences, totaling $8,500. Contest entries will be judged on creativity, quality, popularity and effectiveness in promoting U.S.-grown rice, NRM and the importance of rice in the student's state. Sample topics include: Rice production, nutrition, sustainability and marketing or promotion.
